Maple Pediatrics & Adult Primary Care is the practice of Michael J. Polisin, MD. Founded in 1990, Dr. Mike’s practice has been serving the Greater Summit Area for over 30 years. He and his staff have dedicated their lives to ensuring patients receive the best medical care around.
What makes us different?
We are one of the last of a dying breed, a small, one doctor medical practice and put the patient first over everything else. Maple Pediatrics is fee for service and we do not accept or participate in any insurance plans. Our practice is very much an old timey, boutique practice at your service.
Our staff is like our family all of whom have worked for us for 25 years or more. We work as a team. Our longstanding staff provides personal care to our patients with efficiency and professionalism. You’ll never speak to a machine when you call during the business day. The office staff always answers all incoming calls and takes care of questions and requests immediately, during the business day.
State of the Art Laboratory
As a small practice, we are happy to provide our patients with state of the art care in a CLIA approved lab. Therefore, our patients have “one stop” care as they don’t have to run to a different location for medical diagnostics.

History
It all started with the dream of a 5 year old boy in Bayonne, New Jersey… a dream to become a doctor, someday. That 5 year old boy was Dr. Mike. Young Mike was influenced by his father Jack’s lifelong love of science. Jack Polisin’s dream was to become a doctor, however, as a product of the Great Depression, Jack’s family couldn’t afford to send him to medical school. So, Jack taught High School Chemistry for 30 years and son, Mike, followed in his footsteps. The future Dr. Mike acquired a love of science and of the humanities and found medicine the perfect combination of both.
Young Dr. Mike studied Chemistry at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey, subsequently got his medical degree in 1985 at the University of Padua, Italy and finished his residency at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. He Board certified for Pediatrics immediately following residency in 1988. From there, he went into private practice specializing in Pediatrics. During the last several years, Dr. Mike has expanded into caring for adults as a general medical practitioner. His vast medical education in Italy afforded him the ability to care for patients from “womb to tomb”.
Over the course of his medical practice, he was chosen to be Vice Chairman of the Pediatrics Department at Overlook Hospital. In addition, he was awarded the Best Teaching Attending during a 2-Year period while a Preceptor for Medicine/Pediatric Residency at Overlook Hospital.
Dr. Mike currently lives in Summit with his wife, Nancy, and adult son, Finn, and three dogs. His interests include tinkering with his two motorcycles and his 20 year old Saturn beater car (he not only likes to mend humans but likes to mend machines).
